Weekly Athletic Update
Welcome back and I hope the break was enjoyable! Our Spring season has officially commenced, and the sprint is on to the finish line, just 8 weeks away.
- Varsity Baseball and Boys’ Tennis played contests to kick things off during the week while both lacrosse teams used a scrimmage to fine tune things for the season ahead. Peter Murphy ’24 got the home team out of the gate in superb fashion with an impressive mound performance as the Hilltoppers raced past BB&N on Wednesday. Cam Papetti’s 3 hit 5-RBI outing and Mav Rizy ‘s 5-inning, 12 K performance stifled the opposition from NY state (Citius Prep Academy) as the hometown team captured a doubleheader win at Blackburn Field on Saturday. A 6-run explosion in the 3rd inning propelled WA to a comfortable lead they would never relinquish.
- Boys’ Tennis travelled to Rhode Island and fared well in their season opener, pushing past Portsmouth Abbey by a 7-2 count. Rainy conditions may perhaps cause some mid-week issues here in Worcester as the remaining Hilltopper teams hope to begin their respective campaigns.
