Capozzoli Athletic Center

For years to come, when visitors drive up this hill, they will encounter a beautiful front door to our school and our neighborhood. It will say welcome to Worcester Academy, a proud and historic school poised and positioned for its next century.
-Kevin Breen, Head of School

On October 27, 2023, we broke ground for the new Capozzoli Athletic Center on our South Campus, the former site of Saint Vincent Hospital on Providence Street.

The facility, which will span two floors and 72,000 square-feet, is supported by a transformative $20 million gift from commercial real estate developer and businessman Ron Capozzoli Sr., Worcester Academy Class of 1949.

Highlights of the Capozzoli Athletic Center include a premier basketball facility with competition and practice courts, a 6,000 square-foot training and fitness center, and a swimming pool. The new complex will not only serve Worcester Academy students but will also have spaces available for community use.

When completed, the Capozzoli Athletic Center will signal our unwavering commitment to providing a uniquely relevant educational experience for every student—one that is rooted in our rich history, informed by our urban campus, and catalyzed through investments in our people and infrastructure.

The construction project, being managed by StanMar, Inc., is now well underway, and the building is expected to be open for the community in the fall of 2025. We invite you to check back regularly for updated construction images.
