After a sluggish end to the first half, Worcester pulled ahead to defeat visiting NEPSAC Class AAA opponent Vermont Academy, 80-70.
WA got off to a hot start with a quick dunk by Kayvaun Mulready (Worcester, MA) off the tip. The junior guard was tremendous defensively, registering multiple run-outs off his own steals in the first half. Vermont stormed back and took a 42-37 lead into halftime.
WA came out strong in the second half lead by the inside play of junior wing/big Todd Brogna (Southborough, MA) and the hot shooting of senior guard Dan Becil (New York, NY). Lead by their defense, WA put VA away for a 80-70 win.
Mulready lead all scorers with 21 points. Brogna registered a career-high 16, while Becil added 14 and junior guard Tre Norman (Boston, MA) chipped in 13.
Worcester returns to Rowe Court tomorrow to face Loomis Chaffee at 1:30pm.
