WA Tops Tilton In Class AA Opener
The Hilltoppers traveled to Tilton School in NH for their first road league game of the year. The first half was a back and forth battle as the visiting Hilltoppers took a nine-point lead into halftime, 38-29, led by strong play from junior guards Kayvaun Mulready (Worcester, MA) and Tre Norman (Boston, MA).
As the second half got underway, the Hilltoppers built a double digit lead with their defensive pressure and open court play. The lead stretched to as many as twenty but the Rams of Tilton did not give in and were able to stay within striking distance till the end. Worcester came back to the Hilltop with a 73-57 victory in hand!
Mulready, Norman, and post-graduate guard Jake Shapiro (Los Angeles, CA) lead WA with 15 points each. Mulready added 18 rebounds & 6 assists, while Norman added 8 rebounds, as well. Senior guard Daniel Becil (New York, NY) chipped in 14 points, while senior big Abdullah Mahamed (Foxborough, MA) recorded a near double-double with 9 points and 9 rebounds.
WA will play its next two games at home in the Thomas Blackburn Tourney December 11 & 12. Come out and support! Our first game in the Tournament will be against Proctor Academy at 4:30pm on Saturday on Rowe Court. All spectators will be required to wear masks.
