Weekly Athletics Update

  • 3rds Basketball has pushed their win streak to 10 games with convincing wins against St. Andrew’s (51-44) and Loomis-Chaffee School (46-20). Jaden Aytek and Wes Stromme each tossed in 14 points in the win over St. Andrew’s on Wednesday and a solid collective effort pushed the 3rds past Loomis on Saturday.
  • Girls’ Basketball went 2-0 during the week with wins over NMH on Wednesday (65-44) and Storm King on Saturday. Cam Rust (20 points/8 rebounds) and Kailee McDonald (14 points/7 rebounds) led the way against NMH and WA’s depth and speed proved too much for Storm King on Saturday afternoon. St. Andrew’s will visit WA on Wednesday before a weekend trip to New Hampton next Saturday.
  • Girls’ Ice Hockey salvaged a 2-2 tie at the Rivers School on Wednesday and rode a game-winning overtime penalty shot from Georgia Macinnis ’26 to secure a 2-1 win over NYA at the WIC on Sunday afternoon. WA will attempt to build momentum when they travel to Williston on Wednesday for a 4:00 pm contest.
  • Boys’ Ice Hockey had a good weekend securing wins over the Pomfret School on Friday and Bridgton on Saturday. A mid-week Holt conference loss to Portsmouth Abbey didn’t seem to faze the Hilltoppers as they rode an outstanding performance in goal from Braden Clifford ’24 to defeat Pomfret (2nd time this season) and then bounced back from a 1st period deficit on Saturday as they cruised past Bridgton by a 7-2 score.
  • Varsity Swim lost to a deep Winsor squad on Wednesday despite some fine performances. Claire Puffer ’24 grabbed two 1st place finishes in the 200/50 free and joined Elise Drake (also a 1st in the 100 fly) and Stella Sullivan and Lani Faniko in the winner’s circle in the 200 free relay.

  • Middle School swim also fell at Winsor on Wednesday by a score of 83 - 66 despite an array of outstanding performances.
  • Boys Varsity Basketball was on the road for three consecutive games during the week and emerged with an important AA win at Wilbraham in the final contest of the week. Cam Hailey (14), James Jones (13) and Ryan Sullivan (12) all chipped in with double digit scoring to help the Hilltoppers in Wilbraham. A mid-week loss to Exeter and a setback to AAA power New Hampton had the Hilltoppers reeling but they responded in kind with a nice bounce back effort against the Titans.
  • Our Ski Team prepped for the upcoming NEPSAC New England Championships at Berkshire East Mountain on Wednesday with a nice effort on a challenging course on Friday afternoon at Mount Wachusett. Races begin at 9:00 am in Charlemont, Ma on Wednesday. Good luck to the team.

  • Varsity 2 Basketball got off to a slow start in New Hampshire on Wednesday and lost 59-39 to Exeter. A return to the friendly confines of Rowe Court against NMH offered hope but a 2nd half offensive dry spell sent the team to a tough loss. The team will try to get back to the win column on Wednesday when they travel to Marianapolis Prep for a 3:00 pm contest.

  • A strong Nativity team pushed past the MS boys and handed them their 1st loss of the year despite a 22-point effort from Wes Stromme.
