WA Falls To Proctor On The Road

Worcester Academy dropped a league road contest to Proctor Academy by a score of 64-58.

Proctor Academy avenged their loss in the Blackburn Tournament championship game last month by downing Worcester Academy, 64-58.

The game was even early, as the lead changed hands multiple times throughout the first half, with neither team able to get out to a big lead.  Post-graduate point guard Nassir Barrino (Newark, NJ) paced WA with 11 first half points, as the Hilltoppers took a 28-27 lead into the locker room.

The lead would bounce back and forth between the two NEPSAC Class AA teams again in the second half.  Post-graduate forward Jesse Wims (Watertown, MA) and senior big man Kevin Marfo (Bergenfield, NJ) paced the Hilltopper attack on the interior, but it was not enough as WA fell late by a score of 64 to 58.

Barrino lead WA in scoring with 21 points.  Marfo, who is committed to George Washington, scored 17 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.   Wims, who is committed to Redlands, scored a season-high 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds (5 of them offensive).

Worcester Academy drops to 7-4 (5-4 NEPSAC Class AA).  They will return to the court on Saturday afternoon, as they will take part in the BABC Prep Classic at Cathedral High School in Boston.  The Hilltoppers will take on New Hampton School at 12:30pm.
