Worcester Tops Wilbraham, 81-69
Worcester Academy hosted Wilbraham & Monson Academy in a NEPSAC Class AA tilt on Saturday afternoon on Rowe Court. The home team emerged victorious with a 81-69 win.
WA went inside early, as sophomore center Josh Ogundele (London, ENG) put in seven early Hilltopper points. Three-pointers by a pair of juniors in Matt Corey (Londonderry, NH) & Paul Durkee (Shrewsbury, MA) extended the WA lead, and they went into halftime with a 44-34 lead.
Junior forward Mitch Doherty (Acton, MA) scored at will inside in the second half, as the lead swelled to as many as 20 points. Worcester cruised to a 81-69 win.
Doherty lead the way with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore point guard Quest Harris (Lowell, MA) scored 11 points, grabbed 11 rebounds & handed out 8 assists. Durkee finished with 12 points, and Ogundele chipped in 11.
Worcester improves to 5-4 (5-3 in NEPSAC Class AA), and heads on the road to face MacDuffie School in Granby, MA, tomorrow at 2:30pm.
