WA Hangs On Against Brimmer
Taking part in the annual St. Andrew's Holiday Classic at St. Andrew's School in Barrington, RI, Worcester Academy scored a league win with a 76-75 conquest over Brimmer School.
WA got off to a 10-2 start, but Brimmer clawed their way back to tie the game at the half. Junior forward Matt Corey (Londonderry, NH) nailed three 3-pointers in the half & lead WA in scoring with 11 first half points. Sophomore point guard Quest Harris (Lowell, MA) chipped in 10 in the first half, including two 3-pointers.
Worcester hit their free throws in the second half, thanks in large part to junior guard Dylan Lien (Northborough, MA) down the stretch & hung on for a 76-75 victory.
Harris & junior guard Paul Durkee (Shrewsbury, MA) paced WA with 14 points apiece. Corey added 13, and junior forward Mitch Doherty (Acton, MA) scored 11. Lien & junior guard Jordan McAllister (Newburgh, NY) chipped in 8 points respectively.
Worcester Academy improves to 4-4 overall and 4-3 in NEPSAC Class AA.
