Worcester Opens Season With Class AA Win
Opening up on Rowe Court, WA lead wire to wire against Brimmer School.
Close early, the Hilltoppers broke the game open with hot shooting from beyond the 3-point arc. Junior guard Jordan McAllister (Newburgh, NY) paced the Hilltoppers before halftime with 9 points. Junior big man Mike Rabinovich (Hopkinton, MA) & junior guard Manav Randhawa (Ajax, CAN) each hit two big 3-pointers late in the half to send WA into the lockerroom with a 46-29 lead. The Hilltoppers finished the first half shooting 10/12 from 3-point land.
WA survived a couple of Brimmer runs midway through the second half behind strong play from sophomore point guard Quest Harris (Lowell, MA), and cruised to a 80-72 victory.
Harris lead the way with 17 points, 6 rebounds & 6 assists. McAllister & junior guard Dylan Lien (Northborough, MA) each chipped in 11 points, while junior guard Paul Durkee (Shrewsbury, MA) scored 10 points.
The 1-0 Hilltoppers will travel to St. Andrew's School in Barrington, RI, to play two games in the Zero Gravity Prep Classic. They will play Lee Academy at 7:30pm on Friday night, and South Kent School at 2:00pm on Sunday afternoon.
