Anderson Cooper Profiles Success Of WA alumnus Jonathan Starr '94 On 60 Minutes


Anderson Cooper of 60 Minutes profiles Worcester Academy's Jonathan Starr '94 and the success of his Abaarso Schooll, which he founded in Somaliland in Africa in 2009! Many of his students (including several who have spent time studying at WA) have gone on to attend America's top colleges and universities.

Among those Abaarso scholars studying at WA was Mubarik Mohamoud '13, who was also interviewed for this story by Anderson Cooper. Mubarik will graduate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) this spring. Other Abaarso School scholars who have attended Worcester Academy include Deqa Aden '14 (Grinnell College) and Ahmed Hussein '16 (TCU — Texas Christian University). Saeed Abdi, a member of WA's junior class, is our most recent Somaliland scholar.
