Weekly Athletics Update—April 19, 2022
 
 
  • Boys’ varsity lacrosse remained undefeated with a 12-2 win over the Winchendon School on Wednesday at Morse Field. David Lawler (5 goals) and Parker Greene (3 goals) led the scoring parade for the host Hilltoppers who will face their sternest test of the year with a Wednesday afternoon home contest vs. Portsmouth Abbey.

  • Varsity baseball raced out of the gate with a 7-0 record before falling to Phillips Exeter in the 2nd game of a league double header at Blackburn Field on Saturday. Max Marchetti hurled a gem in the opener as the Hilltoppers prevailed by an 8-0 count before dropping the back end by a 4-2 count. The Hilltoppers opened league play with a solid performance against Cushing Academy on Wednesday, pushing past the Penguins by a 9-2 count. TJ Power pitched well and Gabe Pitts and Carson Walsh had multiple hit games. 

  • Softball had an exciting 7-6 win over a talented Winchendon squad on Friday, scoring the winning run in the final stanza. Earlier in the week the team prevailed over Marianapolis Prep(15-6)  before bowing on the road to Loomis-Chaffee School (10-4) and Deerfield (3-0).

  • Girls’ varsity tennis continues their winning ways, powering past the Pomfret School on Wednesday and then capturing every double match (5-0 win) in a Thursday afternoon victory over the Bancroft School.

  • Despite a 4-goal game for Emma Abyssalh and a 6 save effort from goalie, Sam Bilello, Beaver Country Day rallied past the Hilltoppers on Monday for a 10-9 win. 

  • Golf lost an early week match up against the Moses Brown School then posted a win against Cushing Academy (223-246) as Brendan Roy ’23 and Tyler Hughes ’23 posted impressive numbers for the 2-1 Hilltoppers. The team travels to NMH on Wednesday for their 1st road match of the season.
     
  • Varsity Boys’ Tennis continues to play well but dropped a road contest to Phillips Andover (7-2) on Saturday. 

  • The JV boys’ lacrosse team went on the road Thursday and played a spirited two-way contest as they pushed past Marianapolis Prep in Connecticut on Thursday. 

  • JV Baseball travelled to Dexter-Southfield and lost to a very talented, experienced team.

  • Track & field hosted their initial meet of the year on Saturday and both teams secured a third-place finish at Gaskill Field on Saturday, The quad meet included squads from NMH, St. Pauls’ and Cushing Academy.
