Addressing Racism, Hate, and National Unrest

On Wednesday, June 3, 2020, a response to the murder of George Floyd and the national climate went out from our Head of School, Ron Cino, to the WA community. Prior to Mr. Cino's letter, an internal campus response was sent and we focused our immediate attention to students, faculty and staff, and the Black Alumni Association, followed by broader internal listening circles and debrief sessions. We will continue our listening and debrief circles in the short-term, and in the long-term, through training, learning and development for faculty, staff, and students. We will lean into building our equity and inclusion efficacy and structures, so that we can create the needed change in our own school community and in the greater society, which is foundational to our mission and core values. Naming the deep-seated roots of racism, prejudice, inequity and injustice in our society, is the base for plotting strategic action.
