The WAGON Program

The Wagon (Worcester Academy Gives Others Nourishment) Program, Worcester Academy's neighborhood food initiative program, is coordinated by the Department of Athletics and the Office of Equity and Inclusion, and is spearheaded by Jamie Sullivan, Head Boys Basketball Coach. The program is currently focused on outreach to the Union Hill School families and others in the surrounding neighborhood who have been directly affected by COVID-19. Many families are now jobless and have also contracted the virus, contributing to food insecurity.

We are asking for your help in supplying food donations (please see the food list below) for local families in need. WA employees coordinating the Wagon Program will collect and distribute the food.

Drop-off Details: Starting Tuesday, May 12th, a supervised Worcester Academy van will be set-up inside the main entrance in the lower parking area near the circle by Walker Hall, to collect food donations. Donations may be dropped off Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Please do not drop-off donations outside of this timeframe, unless pre-scheduled (with Jamie Sullivan).

Protocol: Please leave your donations in the back of the WA van. A WA volunteer will be there to give you instruction for drop-off and to collect gift cards. Per the Governor's orders, we ask that you wear a mask, and we also recommend that you wear gloves. We will have supplies on-hand for distribution as necessary.

Volunteers: At this time we are not soliciting additional volunteers. VOLUNTEERS WILL ADHERE to social distancing PROTOCOLS, as the safety of our community is a priority.

Going Forward: As we continue building out the Wagon Program, more information will be forthcoming about the establishment of the WA Wagon Program Pantry (to store a variety of "necessity" donations for local families, including food and clothing), and information about how to support and volunteer.
