WA Falls At The Buzzer

Worcester fell at the buzzer to visiting league rival Wilbraham & Monson on Wednesday afternoon on Rowe Court.

The backcourt trio of senior Quest Harris (Lowell, MA), junior Jhamyl Fricas (Lawrence, MA) & sophomore Dasonte Bowen (Boston, MA) scored 28 of WA's 40 first-half points, as a Harris 3-pointer at the buzzer tied the game at 40 heading into halftime.

Worcester was lead in the second half by the frontcourt duo (that are both committed to Holy Cross) of seniors Judson Martindale (Sudbury, MA) & Michael Rabinovich (Hopkinton, MA).  After a steal & layup by Harris, WA cut the Wilbraham lead to two.  Off a missed jumper, junior guard Leo Chaikin (South Hero, VT) tipped the ball in to tie the game at 72 with 8.7 seconds left.

Coming out of the timeout, Wilbraham post-grad Keller Boothby drilled a deep 3-pointer from the wing as time expired to give the visitors the victory.

Harris lead WA with 20 points.  Bowen added 14, while Martindale chipped in 11.

Worcester drops to 9-5 overall, including 8-2 in Class AA.

Worcester will host Phillips Academy Andover on Friday night at 6pm, then travel to Cushing Academy to face off against league rival Tilton School at 3pm as part of the coaches'-run NEPSAC Class AA Showcase.
