                                                     Weekly Athletic Update

The calendar is about to turn as we head into November and the conclusion of our Fall season. NEPSAC tournament play is scheduled for Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, November 13, 16, and 17—save for the Cross Country Championships taking place at Noble and Greenough on Saturday, November 9.

  • Boys’ soccer continues to win games stretching their unbeaten streak to 10 games (13-1-1 overall) with wins over Deerfield and Kimball Union. Team will travel to Andover on Wednesday, hoping to secure a high seed in the Class A Tournament.

  • On the girls’ side, Elizabeth Finn registered a pair of goals helping the visiting Hilltoppers roll past Milton Academy on Saturday. Hotchkiss scored a pair of 2nd half goals to pull away from WA on Wednesday halting WA’s mid-season winning streak. The week ahead looms large for the team with a key Saturday match up against Phillips Exeter in New Hampshire.

  • Field Hockey has hit a bit of a rough stretch dropping four out of their last five games and will look to get back on track Wednesday as they travel to Tabor for a 3:00 pm contest. The team played well in tough losses to Deerfield (at Morse)  and Pomfret (in Connecticut) and remains very much in the playoff picture with an overall record of 9-6.

  • Football travelled to Loomis-Chaffee on Saturday and dropped a decision to the Pelicans as the lack of depth and overall numbers continues to plague the team. An early game drive that saw the Hilltoppers advance the ball to the L-C goal line was stuffed and with it the momentum as the home team ran away with an impressive win. A rematch with Phillips Andover looms next for the Hilltoppers in a neutral site contest to be played at the Groton School, Saturday afternoon at 4:30 pm.

  • Gabby Gavala finished 4th overall in Saturday’s Shaler Invitational at the Williston School in Northampton. The next finisher for the Hilltoppers was Marie Wei while on the boys’ side, Jack Adiletta and Chris Maclean were the top two racers in this 11 team extravaganza. The team is excited about Saturday’s home meet at the Emmons Course out at New Balance with the girls’ race scheduled to go off at 3:15 pm, the boys’ race immediately  thereafter.

  • Volleyball travelled cross-town and dispatched of the Bancroft School in straight sets but fell to the Rivers School on Saturday (3-1) in a rematch of an earlier September contest. Wednesday, the team travels to Marianapolis Prep for an important contest as they remain on the cusp of a tournament bid.

  • Junior varsity volleyball won their two matches in impressive fashion over the Bancroft School and Rivers.

  • In one of the more entertaining contests of the fall season, the JV boys’ soccer team played their finest contest on the year racing past NMH to avenge one of their two earlier season losses.
