Summer weather has returned as we move into October and we are all enjoying the beautiful conditions for play and competition. In a busy week there were some outstanding individual and team performances as the fall season kicked into high gear.
  • Varsity Volleyball (3-1) is off to a great start capping off a 1-1 week with a solid victory over Suffield on Saturday. The team has exhibited great enthusiasm and seems to have a balanced attack with depth as well! A road trip to W & M on Wednesday precludes Saturday’s Oskee Weekend match up with Cushing and Pomfret.
  • Boys soccer has demonstrated an impenetrable defense through their first 5 contests (3-1-1) but suffered their lone defeat on the young season on Sunday against a veteran NMH squad. St. Paul’s School will provide the opposition Wednesday afternoon with a 3:15 pm kick off at New Balance.
  • Senior Alex Cagan continues her early season scoring spree leading the way as the Field Hockey team improved their record to 3-2 with an exciting win at Dexter Southfield on Saturday. Gina Richard ’23 had a two goal game in Wednesday’s road win over Marianapolis Prep.
  • Varsity Football (0-2) travelled to New Hampshire Friday eve to take on Phillips Exeter in a Class A match up. Worcester’s successful run against Exeter over the past several came to an abrupt end in a 24-6 loss. Despite falling behind by two touchdowns early in the contest, the Hilltoppers trailed by a slim 14-6 margin late into the 2nd half as a staunch defense held the home town team at bay. The Hilltoppers will look to regroup on Saturday afternoon as they host the Suffield Tigers in a 3:00 pm Gaskill Field match up.
  • Scoring goals has been a challenge to date for our varsity girls’ soccer team as they battle an early season injury bug and a top heavy Class A schedule. ISL road loses to Rivers and Noble and Greenough has the team eagerly pointing towards Wednesdays match up with Phillips Andover. The game will kick off at 3:15 pm at Morse Field.
  • JV boys’ soccer dominated action on both sides of the ball in Saturday’s 4-0 shutout win over cross town rival St. John’s. Wesley Larson recorded the shutout in goal for the home team.
  • JV Volleyball scored an exciting 2-1 win over Suffield on Saturday in the old gym and ran their overall record to 2-1. Multiple players registered scores and the defense rose to the occasion in the decisive set!
  • Cross Country teams travelled to NMH on Saturday to tackle a rugged course and two very talented squads. NMH and Williston proved to be a tough match but we were able to run effectively against Suffield on a very warm afternoon in Western Mass. Jack Adiletta and Chris MacLean finished at the top of the pack on the boys’ side. Gabby Gavala took 3rd place overall and the next two WA runners were Amy Belliveau and Marie Wei.
