Transportation to WA

The morning rush can be daunting for all of us.  Worcester Academy offers three additional transportation options to help you get your student(s) off to school and you on with your busy day:

Bus Routes
Partnering with a local transportation company, Worcester Academy offers two bus routes to campus each morning. Routes beginning in Framingham and Franklin include stops in Southborough, Marlborough, Shrewsbury, Hopkinton, and Milford. Cost per family is dependent on demand.

Commuter Rail
With stops in Grafton, Westborough, Southborough, Ashland, Framingham, and all along the way to Boston, Worcester's commuter rail is a great way families are making WA work for them.  Worcester Academy offers door-to-door shuttle service from campus to Worcester's Union Station located 3 minutes from campus whether after school, after practice, or after dinner.  Student Rail passes make it easy and affordable for them to swipe their card and go. This year, well over a dozen WA students take the train daily and gain extra social or study time with this travel option.

Carpooling
Carpooling is a great and widely used option. If you are new to Worcester Academy and would like to start working on your carpool now, please contact Nancy Osborn, Director of Parent Relations. She will help you get what you need.

"I love it!  ...the shuttle driver is nice, and we get dropped off at Union Station, where there's snacks to grab before we catch the train.  It's only $1.75 for me, because I'm a WA student.  We can even pay with our phone. It's so much quicker 'cause there's no traffic.  Oh, and I take the bus in the morning."

The Value of 5-Day Boarding

For families who find daily transportation to and from school exceptionally challenging and wish to maintain strong hometown ties with friends, club athletic teams or religious communities, our 5-day boarding program is a great solution (or alternative for consideration). The 5-day boarding program pays dividends in the form of increased academic support and structure for the student and minimized commute time and stress for parents. It’s all the little things gained that add up to value for our families.

  • Boarding students enjoy the extra sleep time in the morning which is important for optimal learning and development.
  • Parents and students avoid the challenges of commuting and evening meal prep which can be tricky when juggling a career and after-school activities.
  • The required 2-hour evening study hall offers additional access to teaching faculty. Whether in the library or in the dorm, students can seek peer and faculty tutoring which removes the stress placed on parents to assist with homework. Evening Study Hall provides an environment that is relatively free from the distractions of home (siblings, TV, phone, video games, etc.).
  • Sunday evening through Friday, meals are worry-free. Your student eats in our Dining Hall where a variety of healthy and delicious meals are ready and waiting.
  • The relationships formed while living with students of varying cultures are both unique and treasured.
  • Across campus and in dorms, we supply wireless printing and internet. Remember, your kids are a Skype call away.
WORCESTER ACADEMY® is a co-ed day and boarding school for grades 6 to 12 and postgraduates. Our urban setting, diverse community, and innovative curriculum provide each student with unique opportunities for self-discovery, academic achievement, and personal empowerment.
