Thank you for your interest in Worcester Academy.
Many people ask me what I most like about Worcester Academy. My answer in simplest terms is that the people and the values inspire me. Worcester Academy is a school that embraces its identity and tradition by teaching students to Achieve the Honorable in all that they do. Even as we evolve in the 21st century by implementing innovative classroom and operational practices, we remain true to our roots and our mission – instilling in our students the desire to learn throughout their lives as they engage passionately with the world around them into the educational experience each day. The faculty is instrumental in creating a rigorous academic program with great dimension with invaluable mentoring and support. Classroom learning at Worcester Academy provides broad perspective on the world, integrates technology use, and pushes every student to be great.
I marvel often at the many ways in which this learning extends outside the classroom. As one student said recently, “Our inner-city setting shows us first-hand some of America’s greatest challenges and helps us grow as leaders and problem solvers to make a difference in the world.” Our students translate their learning into action, putting into practice their own interpretation of our values and testing their capacity for leadership and service. Students are trained to lead and, with faculty support, they connect their personal and academic interests to ambitious service projects that benefit our neighborhood and communities around the world.
With character-building and a strong mission of preparing our students to “Achieve the Honorable” at our core, I look ahead with great enthusiasm to seeing you on campus.
