Weekly Athletics Update—November 14, 2022

Boys’ varsity soccer concluded a story book regular season with an undefeated slate and an overall mark of 15-0-1. In preparation for the Class A NEPSAC Championships the team swept past Suffield and Cushing by identical 5-0 scores and earned the # 1 seed in Class A. ISL power, St. Sebastian’s will provide the quarter-final opposition here on Wednesday afternoon with a 3:00 pm kick off scheduled for Morse Field. Congratulations to our team and coaching staff on a remarkable season and best of luck in the week ahead.

  • Senior Elizabeth Finn scored the lone goal at St. Mark’s on Wednesday powering the team to their 8thconsecutive win on the season. With the tally, Elizabeth set the career WA goal scoring record with 49. Quite a record of accomplishment so congratulations to the UNH bound striker! The team will carry a 12-2-2 overall mark into the Class A Tournament and as the # 4 seed will travel to Loomis-Chaffee School on Wednesday afternoon for a 2:00 p.m. contest.

  • Volleyball earned the #7 seed in the Class B NEPSAC Tournament and will travel to
Kingswood-Oxford School in West Hartford, Ct on Wednesday. The match is set to tip off at 4:00 pm. The Hilltoppers earned their seed with an impressive season-ending 3-0 win over Cushing on Saturday. A rugged 5-set match with Class A power Andover on Wednesday afternoon has the team poised and excited about their tournament appearance.

  • Field hockey dropped their final two contests of the season to conclude the year at 6-11. The graduating seniors (6) have left their mark on the program and will be missed and we are grateful for their career contributions.

  • X-C finished their season on a blustery Saturday afternoon as they ran in the D II NE Championships at St. Mark’s School. Ella Budzinski ’25 finished 19th overall and by virtue of this placement and time, earned an invitation to run this weekend in the X-C All-Star meet to be held in Southborough on the St. Mark’s campus. Way to go, Ella!

  • Football battled the elements on Friday evening at Union College and dropped a season-ending 15-14 contest to Evergreen League foe, Albany Academy. The 4-4 overall mark saw this group take important steps in establishing a rise to the top of the Evergreen League. The team returns a solid nucleus for next season and will look to fill in the gaps left by a graduating class of talented senior athletes. Nice work by all.

  • JV boys’ soccer concluded their season (4-7-1) with a nice win over Marianapolis Prep on Wednesday. This avenged an early season 3-1 setback to Marianapolis and put a nice exclamation point on the year. JV girls’ Volleyball dropped their final 2 contests to Lawrence Academy and Cushing.
