Weekly Athletics Update—Dec. 6, 2021

                                                Weekly Athletics Update—Dec. 6, 2021

The initial week of the 2021-2022 Winter season is in the books, and we have some favorable results thus far:

  • Our girls’ ice hockey team came out of the blocks in high gear racing past both the Tilton School (3-1) and Portsmouth Abbey by a count of 4-3. Saturday’s contest against the Abbey was spirited from start to finish and a great way to begin the home slate. The team travels on Wednesday to Dover, NH to play Berwick Academy in a 4:45 p.m. start.

  • On the boys’ side, an impressive Holt Conference win over Berwick Academy (4-1) was sandwiched around a pair of losses to ISL foe, Middlesex and to NMH on Sunday. St Mark’s will provide the opposition on Wednesday in a 4:00 p.m. contest at the WIC.

  • Girls’ varsity basketball has a lot of new faces and is also out of the starting blocks in grand fashion. Dexter School played the host Hilltoppers on even terms on Wednesday before falling by a 62-57 count. On Saturday, the WA offense was in high gear as they powered past the Winchendon School with Lola Lesmond tossing in a game-high 31 points. It is a busy week for the team as they play 4 games in the span of 7 days, starting with a Wednesday afternoon tilt with Andover.

  • The boys’ varsity team dropped a pair of weekend contests, losing to Woodstock Academy in Connecticut on Saturday and falling to Bridgton Academy on Sunday afternoon in Boston. Junior backcourt player, Tre Norman posted 35 in Saturday’s defeat and had a 29-point, 10 rebound effort in Sunday’s loss to Bridgton.

  • Coach Steve Scott’s Varsity 2 squad received 11 points from Krish Pahari ’22 and 11 points from Brendan Roy ’23 in an opening game victory over Rocky Hill School. The Winchendon School will travel to WA on Wednesday for a 5:15 p.m. contest.

  • Julie Silva debuted in fine fashion as our girls’ JV basketball coach on Saturday as the young Hilltoppers pushed past the Eagle Hill School by a 30-12 count.
