                                         Weekly Athletics Update

  • Kudos to our JV boys’ hockey team who ran their record to 12-1 with victories over St. Mark’s (3-1) on Saturday and over Lexington (5-0)  in the NESC league this past Sunday. It has been a very successful season for the team and the coaches to date and we congratulate their efforts and accomplishments.

  • In a whirlwind week, our varsity basketball team went 1-2 posting a mid-week AA victory over the Winchendon School (88-77) and dropping bookend tilts to the Masters School (90-80) and to Brewster Academy (83-71) here on Sunday. Area basketball fans came out in droves to view the Brewster game and the high level of play and talent was fully on display! The team has a busy week ahead with three games on the docket, including a key league match-up with Wilbraham & Monson on Saturday night in Wilbraham.

  • Boys’ ice hockey returned from a weekend trip to New Jersey and Pennsylvania with a split, recording a nice 2-1 win at Lawrenceville Prep after suffering a 5-2 defeat at the Hill School on Friday evening. Earlier in what was surely the busiest week of the season for the Hilltoppers, the team posted impressive wins over the Middlesex School (5-3) and Portsmouth Abbey (3-1). Rory White led the scoring parade on the offensive side but the WA defense and goaltending were important keys to the 3-1 week.

  • Girl’s ice hockey split two contests during the week, dropping a 3-2 home contest against St. Mark’s before skating past the Governor’s Saturday afternoon in Byfield, Ma. by a 4-3 count. Senior net minder Mary Honan was outstanding in the big win at Governor’s turning aside 25 shots to secure the victory.

  • Bella Nascimento poured in a game high 19 points and was supported by the 18 point efforts from both Kyla Jones ’20 and Adara Groman ’20 as the Hilltoppers pulled away from NMH in the 2nd stanza to post a 77-60 verdict. The team returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Exeter for a Saturday afternoon clash.

  • Varsity 2 basketball won back to back contests for the 1st time as they sailed past the Gann School in Waltham by a 36-27 count. The team is back in action at home this week as they host three contests.

  • The swim team competed well but dropped both ends of their home meet to Williston School and boys’ Wrestling (54-12) fell at Middlesex on Wednesday.

  • JV boys’ basketball dropped a competitive contest to the Groton School on Wednesday but bounced back and posted a double digit win at Marianapolis Prep on Saturday.

  • Freshman basketball took part in the Fenn Basketball Tournament on Saturday and came away from a long day of basketball with a split, moving past BB&N on the back end of a tough loss to the host school. Mid-week the team turned a 4-point halftime deficit into a neat come from behind win (3rd in a row) over St. Mark’s as Wes Larson again led the way with a 16-point effort.
