Cheshire Tops WA, 72-69

As the #6 seed, Worcester Academy traveled to face #3 seeded Cheshire Academy on Wednesday afternoon. The visitors dropped a hard-fought contest, 72-69. Cheshire got off to a quick start in the first half, and WA was not able to slow down their hot shooting. WA went into halftime trailing 43-37. Worcester fought back into the game, slowly chipping away and came within 3 points of Cheshire late in the game. A late 3-pointer fell short, and Cheshire hung on for the win and advances to the NEPSAC Class AA semifinals. Post-graduate point guard Nassir Barrino (Newark, NJ) lead the Hilltoppers with 18 points and 6 assists. Senior big man Kevin Marfo (Bergenfield, NJ) scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while post-graduate guard Tanner Johnson (Lexington, KY) scored 16 points on 4 3-pointers. Marfo is headed to George Washington next year, while Johnson will play at Bryant. Worcester Academy finishes the 2015-16 season with a 16-13 record.
