While their winning streak came to an end with a 4-1 home loss to Thayer on Friday night, the resiliency and toughness of our Girls Field Hockey team was best exemplified in their “rebound” 4-1 victory on Saturday at Portsmouth Abbey. Certainly the mark of a champion is being able to pick your self up and respond to the next challenge and the team was able to quickly re-focus their energies and put forth a winning performance. The victory improves the record to 11-1 and sets the stage for Wednesday’s contest with Deerfield Academy. Game time is 3:30 pm at Morse Field.
  • Girls Varsity Soccer team is quietly but steadily moving up in the ranks in the Class A play-off hunt having put together a string of 7 consecutive games without a loss. The defense has been stingy and opportunistic scoring from a host of WA snipers has the team positioned once again for a nice late fall run. Two back-to-back home contests on Thursday and Friday (Breast Cancer Awareness Game on Friday evening at Morse, 6:00 pm) highlight the week ahead.
  • There’s no substitute for great senior leadership and Ahmed Hussein and Brian Quistberg have provided this and more for the Boys Cross Country team leading the harriers to an outstanding 9-3 mark heading into the final two weeks of the season.
  • In Girls Cross Country, the future looks very bright as the underclass trio of Coco Arcand ’19, Gabby Conte ’19 and Mabel Gao ’19 continue to pave the way for the Hilltoppers who earned two wins over the weekend in the Winchendon Invitational.
  • Coach Anna Clifford’s Volleyball team is on a bit of a roll as well posting consecutive wins over Kingswood-Oxford School on Wednesday and travelling to Williston-Northampton on Saturday for yet another victory. Wednesday’s home victory in 5 sets was a thriller!
  • The Boys Soccer team has hit a bit of a dry spell on the offensive end – scoring but two goals in two games this week – but the defense remains strong propelling the team to a pair of 1-1 ties and keeping their Class A play-off hopes very much in play as the season winds down. Wednesday’s match at Deerfield is crucial to their post-season push!
  • Choate appears to be the class of the Independent Football League as they rolled past the visiting Hilltoppers on Saturday afternoon in Wallingford. Loomis-Chaffee will provide the next opposition for the team as they travel to Windsor on Saturday afternoon.
  • On the sub-varsity level, Erin Duncan scored two goals including the game clincher in the final minute of Saturday’s 4-2 win over the Brooks School. The JV Boys Soccer team ran their record to 4-1-2 with a solid 2-0 road win at K-O. The JV Volleyball team rebounded from a 3 set loss at home to K-O defeating Williston on Saturday, 3-0.
