The boys junior varsity soccer team “jump started” the week with a pair of impressive home wins over St. John’s High School (6-1) and Wilbraham & Monson (3-0) as Troy Tran scorched the nets with five goals leading the 4-0-2 Hilltoppers to yet another victory!

On the girls’ side the JV team rebounded from a 3-1 road loss at Milton and secured an impressive 5-2 win over Wilbraham & Monson on Saturday afternoon at New Balance Field.

The varsity boys soccer team played perhaps their most complete game to date on Wednesday, defeating a solid Deerfield team, 4-0 as Tyler Castor ’15 banged home 2 goals and junior keeper Alex Botazzi recorded his sixth shutout on the young season. The team traveled to Exeter on Wednesday to round out their week and settled for a 2-2 tie with their rivals to the north!

The varsity girls soccer teams’ on-going struggles to put the ball in the back of the net continued as they dropped a 1-0 decision on the road to Milton on Wednesday before falling on Saturday to a crisp Wilbraham & Monson squad, 3-1.

Scoring droughts have similarly plagued the field hockey team who dropped two closely fought home contests during the week, 2-0 to the Pomfret School and 3-2 to Cushing Academy. Junior goalie, Olivia Lockbaum ’16 was a standout in the nets as she recorded 13 saves against Cushing.

Gray skies and intermittent rain cleared out just in time on Saturday afternoon and the WA x-country teams took full advantage of the weather racing to a 20-41 win on the boys side and a 27-28 victory on the “girls’ side. Keelan Calderwood ’15 grabbed first place on the boys side (19:46) while Meaghan Barry ’15 (22:16) led the way once again for the lady Hilltoppers. Special thanks to WA's Rich Agbey for his great work in getting the x-country course in superb condition for Saturday’s race!

The varsity volleyball team dropped a straight set match to a strong Pomfret squad on Rowe Court on Wednesday while the JV team split a pair of matches during the week, losing at home to Pomfret (2-0) before ending the week on a high note with a 2-0 win over Marianapolis Prep on Saturday.

The stage has been set for what should be an entertaining Homecoming football game this weekend matching two undefeated Class A teams, Choate Rosemary Hall and Worcester Academy. Compliments of two Brian Dolan touchdown strikes, one to Caden Dumas ’17 and a game clincher in overtime to Noah Burke ’15, the Hilltoppers registered an impressive 23-17 win over Poly Prep (Brooklyn, NY) on Saturday. The team battled back from an early 9-0 deficit, forged ahead, 16-9 at the half and then scored a decisive touchdown during the overtime session to seal their biggest win of the season to date!
