The hallmark of a Worcester Academy education is the school's challenging and rigorous academic program -- designed to make students think, to question their assumptions, to want to go further in their understanding of the world around them. With classes that average 13 pupils, the Academy's exceptional teachers ask a great deal from their students: to be prepared, to participate in class, to ask questions, and to engage in their learning every day.
Worcester Academy's curriculum is designed to meet the needs and goals of every student. For the most academically talented students the Academy offers an array of highly demanding courses that includes Advanced Placement classes in every academic discipline, including computer science, music and studio art. For other students there are appropriate level courses that will challenge them and prepare them well for college, but that will not overwhelm them along the way. The common denominator is that all Worcester Academy students work hard in their studies, and reap the benefits of their hard work.
What's more, our supportive Advisory Program helps students make the adjustment to Upper School and -- along with our friendly College Counseling staff -- ultimately prepares them for college, ensuring that no child at Worcester Academy gets "lost." Should students struggle with their schoolwork, our Academic Support staff will coordinate individualized tutorials to help them succeed.
Beyond academics, students relish being part of such a vibrant community -- whether hanging out after class in the Kellner Student Center, working on a group project in the Library, competing in Athletics or performing in the spectacular Hervey Ross '46 Auditorium, they are creating lifelong memories every day at Worcester Academy.
