Homework -- 1.5 to 2.5 hours nightly from the first day of classes for Middle School students; 2.5 to 4 hours for Upper School students every evening.
Extracurricular -- Participation in extracurricular activities is required. As such, there is a wide array of athletics, as well as clubs and activities, which are organized around common interests, including: Lance (creative writing publication), Law mock trial team, Legomathenian Society (debate), Math Team, Multicultural, Multimedia, Towers (yearbook), Varsity Club, and Vigornia (newspaper).
Dress code -- The dress code is designed to further a spirit of excellence. Violations incur disciplinary action for day students and boarding students alike. The dress code covers class time and all school activities, and informal and formal occasions. Permitted and prohibited clothing and grooming styles are detailed in the Student Handbook, which spells out all Academy policies and rules for students.
Financial Aid -- A national leader in its commitment, Worcester Academy provides tuition assistance resulting in a broad cross section of college-bound students. Approximately 35 percent of students receive financial aid.

Academic Support -- Extra help period four days a week for groups and individuals; weekly written progress reports for each student in each class; weekly mandatory student-advisor meetings; specialized assistance offered at the Center for Academic Support; English as a foreign language/literature.
Technology -- Worcester Academy has made a commitment to having state of the art technology on campus. There are currently six mobile laptop carts, and 2 computer labs on campus. Laptops are available for student use throughout the day and during evening study hall. Dormitory common rooms have computers and printers. Most of the classrooms are outfitted with LCD projectors, and many with Smartboards. The campus has a robust wireless and wired network that covers all of the academic buildings and dormitories. Each student is provided with a school email address and a network account to back up files.
Interscholastic Athletics -- Nearly 350 students competing on 54 teams. Upper School girls: basketball, cross country, field hockey, lacrosse, skiing, soccer, softball, swimming, water polo, tennis and track. Upper School boys: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, hockey, skiing, soccer, swimming, tennis, track, wrestling and lacrosse. Upper School co-ed: golf and water polo (junior varsity only). Middle School girls: basketball, cross country, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis and track. Middle School boys: baseball, basketball, cross country, football, soccer, swimming, track and wrestling. Middle School co-ed: hockey.
Professional Theater Internships -- Offered for academic credit for seniors at a local professional theater company.
Vocal and Instrumental Lessons -- Small group and individual instruction is offered to students enrolled in Chorus and/or Instrumental Ensemble with no additional fee, as scheduling allows.
Student Musician Participation -- Academy Singers, 17; Upper School Chorus, 53; Instrumental Ensemble, 60; Jazz Combo, 8; Jazz Lab, 10; Middle School Singers, 60; Middle School Band, 80; Middle School Choir, 25. Musical theater: 30 on stage, 20 in the orchestra, 27 in technical support.

Community Service -- Each student must complete community service, independent of course work, as a graduation requirement.
